Freehold Township board approves Jan. 28 minutes; district reports modest enrollment increase

The Freehold Township Board of Education approved the minutes from its Jan. 28 regular meeting and executive session and received an enrollment update showing 3,430 students in January 2025.

Board President (unnamed) called the meeting to order and led routine roll call before members moved to approve the Jan. 28, 2025, regular meeting minutes. A motion and second were made and the minutes were approved by voice vote, the transcript shows.

Board member DeVita reported enrollment figures under communications. He said the district had 3,417 students in December 2024 and 3,430 in January 2025, and, as compared with January 2024, reported 3,483 students, according to the record. "That is all I have for communications," DeVita said.

The board also approved the Jan. 28 executive-session minutes. The transcript records that board member Filo abstained from that vote and that board member Williams was absent; no further roll-call breakdown was recorded in the transcript.

The meeting included a president's remarks thanking attendees for coming on a cold evening and an administrative report on instructional programs (see separate article). The board noted, as part of its opening remarks, that the district posts meeting notices on school bulletin boards and the district website and published notice in the Asbury Park Press on Jan. 11, 2025, and sent information to the Star Ledger on Jan. 8, 2025.

The board meets as a whole on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month; committees meet before the first board meeting of the month and report back at the next full board meeting, the record shows.
