Inspector General reports 1,741 complaints received in 2024, 246 investigations completed; annual report due in March

The Department of Inspector General told the Civilian Review Board that it received 1,741 complaints in 2024 and closed 1,469 complaints during the year, and that it completed 246 investigations in 2024.

Inspector General office staff said the office closed 64 complaints in December and completed 22 investigations in December. At the end of the year the office listed 12 complaints pending and 20 on administrative hold; the office reported 46 active investigations ongoing at the time of the meeting. The IG also told the board that 241 investigations were reviewed by the civilian review board in 2024 and that 54 investigations were under review at year-end.

The IG said the office will prepare and present a fuller annual report to the board in March that will include additional detail on dispositions and chain-of-command concurrence when applicable.
