Bettendorf officials will ask the City Council to set a date for a public hearing on a proposed tax increment financing district covering parcels identified in the agenda as Middle and Forest Grove LLC and FG 80 Holdings LLC, the city said Dec. 16.
Angie Sharp, community engagement manager for the city of Bettendorf, said information on the proposed district is included in the agenda packet on page 152 and that councilors will consider setting a public hearing date during the upcoming regular meeting Dec. 17. The city did not provide the public hearing date or a map of affected parcels in the staff preview; the packet page referenced is expected to contain those details.
Tax increment financing districts typically allow a municipality to use incremental property tax revenues generated by the district to finance public improvements within the district. The staff preview did not state the dollar value of proposed investment, the precise boundaries, or the expected duration of the TIF; those details will be part of the public hearing materials and staff presentation.
The TIF item was identified as the second agenda item for discussion during the committee of the whole and will proceed through the formal public hearing process if the council sets a hearing date.
