CIP update for Raider Way and East Woodview Drive CIP program manager Bettis reported crews have tentatively scheduled final asphalt and striping for March, weather permitting, with landscaping work to continue into April and May. Bettis said much of the disruptive work will be scheduled in the evenings to avoid school drop-off traffic and that evening paving is intended to reduce daytime impacts. He noted the contractor will return after striping to install landscaping.
Bettis told council staff logged two reported incidents in the Rouse parking lot that raised safety concerns, including a complaint of drag racing; officers responded but did not locate suspects. City records mentioned three EMS calls tied to the project area, including calls at Wiley and Rouse schools; one call was a false alarm.
Baghdad Road and Collaborative Way project CIP project manager (presenter) reported demolition and prep work is underway where the new dedicated right-turn lane will be placed. Crews have installed curb on the east side of Baghdad and begun installing storm-inlet collection. The contractor created a temporary walkway for students during construction.
The presenter said a driver failed to yield when turning onto Baghdad from Collaborative, producing an injury collision outside construction hours during late-afternoon rush hour; staff reiterated they will continue to prioritize safety and plan to complete resurfacing during spring break and to finish the project by March if weather allows. He said the intersection lighting is powered and will be placed into a flashing mode, with full signal activation following paving and final preparations.
Councilmembers thanked staff for scheduling evening work and for the updates. Staff did not provide new budget numbers or change orders in the report.
