The Houston Planning and Development Department announced that applications for the 2025 Major Thoroughfare and Freeway Plan (MTFP) amendment process are due Friday, March 7, 2025, by 5 p.m. Director Von Tran delivered the reminder during the Houston Planning Commission meeting on March 6.
The MTFP is the city's annual public review process for amendments to its major thoroughfare and freeway plan. Tran said the department conducts multiple opportunities for public comment and review and noted that pre-submittal meetings concluded on Feb. 21.
Tran also listed scheduled milestones for the 2025 amendment cycle: a workshop on May 15 at 1 p.m.; a virtual open house on June 11 at 6 p.m.; a July 24 public hearing at 1 p.m.; an application update meeting on Aug. 20 at 1 p.m.; and a recommendation and action meeting on Sept. 18 at 1 p.m. He provided the Planning Department contact numbers and referred listeners to houstonplanning.com and the "Let's Talk Houston" portal for additional information.
No formal action was taken by the commission on the announcement; it was presented as the director's report and intended as an administrative reminder for prospective applicants.
