Senate action and consent calendar: summary of bills concurred, passed and signed
Summary
The Senate adopted a range of motions including concurrence on amendments, final passage of several bills, and approved multiple items on the consent calendar; the president signed numerous enrolled bills in open session.
On March 6 the South Dakota Senate completed a number of routine and substantive actions on its calendar, including concurrence on House amendments, final passage votes, consent calendar items, and public signing of enrolled measures.
Key outcomes recorded on the floor:
- The Senate concurred in House amendments to Senate Bill 75 (concurrence carried; recorded vote: 31 yeas, 2 nays, 2 excused). The change involved a single‑word amendment related to driver's license documentation as described on the floor.
- The Senate concurred in House amendments to Senate Bill 176 (GOAC subpoena authority), as detailed in a separate article.
- A series of committee reports and nominations were read and referred; the Senate advanced a number of House bills to the floor and adopted committee recommendations as listed in the day's report of standing committees.
- The consent calendar passed as a block. Items on consent included House Bill 10-61 (medical records access for parents/guardians), House Bill 11-39 (investigational treatments), House Bill 12-25 (hospital charge reporting), HCR 6,011 (tribal relations/Oversight), and HCR 6,013 (electoral college posture), among others. The consent calendar passed with no recorded floor debate on those items.

The list of measures read and signed on the Senate floor included a range of bills and resolutions (examples in the journal included SBs and HBs related to water permits, voter registration, unclaimed property, budget transfers, public broadcasting funding, concealed carry, appropriation for victim services, childcare assistance eligibility, and other statutory adjustments). The president’s signatures were entered into the journal as required by the Constitution.
