CEO reports staff hires, 415(b) fact sheet and member outreach; budget work underway

CEO John Flynn said the Office of Retirement Services filled a senior office specialist position, hiring Cecil Abiag (joined as a temporary staffer in March and hired into the permanent role). Staff are continuing recruitment for an open account position and expect to fill it by April. The office published a four‑page 415(b) fact sheet for members explaining an annual Medicare Part B reimbursement topic; staff credited Sandra for completing the item.
Flynn said the FY2026 budget process is underway and that staff will present the proposed budget for board review in April. He also said the office has implemented mobile device management for trustee iPads as part of cybersecurity measures and launched a "Contact the CEO" form on the website to capture member feedback and service issues; the CEO said one message had been received so far.
Flynn noted RFP work is active across multiple procurements (legal services, actuarial services, governance services) and that finalists will be interviewed in coming weeks. He also reminded trustees the retirement office will be closed March 31 for Cesar Chavez Day and that a member workshop is scheduled May 22 for Police & Fire members.
Trustees asked about Medicare Part B reimbursement forms and were told members must submit documentation for the plan to process the benefit; staff offered follow-up outside the meeting to help affected members.
