SACRAMENTO — The California State Assembly on Tuesday adopted its second-day consent calendar, approving two resolutions and recording 68 co-authors, approved a committee re-referral for AB 621 by unanimous consent, rejected a request to suspend Assembly rule 118(a), and adjourned until Monday, March 10, at 1 p.m.
The consent calendar items included Assembly Concurrent Resolution 43 (ACR 43), related to Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month, and House Resolution 20 (HR 20) concerning Unclaimed Property Month. The clerk recorded the vote on the consent calendar as “Ayes, 70; Noes, 0,” and the calendar was adopted.
The action moves the two ceremonial resolutions forward without debate; the clerk opened the roll to allow members to sign on as co-authors and recorded 68 co-authors for the items before the adoption vote.
Separately on the floor, Assistant Majority Leader Garcia requested unanimous consent under Assembly Rule 96 to re-refer AB 621 (Bauer Kahan) from the Judiciary Committee to the Privacy and Consumer Protection Committee and then return it to a subsequent committee reference. There was no objection, and the re-referral was ordered.
Assistant Majority Leader Garcia also requested unanimous consent to suspend Assembly Rule 118(a) to allow assembly members to have guests in the rear of the chamber. That request was objected to on the floor and did not pass.
With no further business announced, a motion to adjourn the House was made and seconded; the Assembly stood adjourned until Monday, March 10, at 1 p.m., and the quorum call was lifted.
