Dallas park board hears draft White Rock Lake master plan; public and board members press for broader outreach and clarity on proposed boardwalk

The Dallas Park and Recreation Board received a briefing March 6 on a draft White Rock Lake Master Plan that consolidates more than two decades of prior studies into a 20-area framework and a set of design guidelines. Consultants described the draft as a program-level plan intended to guide future design and implementation rather than a finished construction plan.

Why it matters: White Rock Lake is treated in the draft as a citywide asset. The plan lays out programmatic options for shoreline stabilization, trail realignments, parking reorganization and other improvements across the lake’s many use areas. Several board members and members of the public said they need more time and clearer outreach before the board considers adopting the plan.
