Valley Forge Tourism reports $2.4 billion 2024 economic impact for Montgomery County; previews busy 2025 sports and PGA Truist schedule

VFTCB said 2024 produced a $2.4 billion total tourism economic impact in Montgomery County, led by $1.7 billion in visitor spending, roughly 40,000 jobs tied to hospitality and $286 million in hotel revenue. The bureau reported nearly 9,500 hotel rooms in the county and said it expects hotel revenue to rise further in 2025.
Presenters — led by Mike Bowman and followed by leaders for sales, sports and marketing — highlighted a robust sports‑tourism pipeline. The bureau said it hosted more than 100 sporting events in 2024, generating more than 100,000 room nights and about $80 million in economic impact. Major upcoming events the bureau flagged for 2025 include the PGA Truist Championship at Philadelphia Cricket Club, multiple Big East championships and national youth tournaments that together are expected to create a record May for hotel occupancy and revenue.
VFTCB said it is pursuing growth in international travel and group events, running trade shows, and expanding digital visitor services. The bureau also described community efforts including an annual 5‑mile Rev Run that it expects will contribute roughly $90,000 to Valley Forge National Historical Park and a food drive that raised over 400,000 pounds of food to date for the Manco Anti‑Hunger Network.
Commissioners praised the bureau’s work and noted the countywide economic benefits from tourism, calling the sector an important source of jobs. The bureau asked for continued coordination with county partners as it prepares for America250 and related 2026 milestones.
Ending: VFTCB officials said they will return with more detailed 2026 planning for America250 and asked the county to support coordinated transportation and visitor‑services planning as the region prepares for a wave of events in 2025–26.
