Council nominates Peter Svenson to fill vacancy on Johnson County Central Appraisal District board

The Joshua City Council voted unanimously to nominate Peter Svenson to the Johnson County Central Appraisal District (CAD) board during its Feb. 18 meeting after multiple residents spoke in favor of his appointment.

Public comment: several residents and community leaders spoke in support of Svenson, citing long-standing local involvement in property management, volunteer organizations and civic activities. One commenter, Michael McCorville, read a statement from Svenson that outlined his background in residential construction, property management, civic organizations and volunteer programs such as Christmas in Action and other local fundraisers. Speakers emphasized Svenson's local experience and a stated goal to address perceived appraisal irregularities and fairness in county property valuations.

Council action: following public comment the council moved and seconded a nomination and voted unanimously to forward Svenson's name to the CAD board-selection process. The nominee was not personally present; a statement was read on his behalf.
