Ledbetter said the funds would support youth-focused outreach and a documentary and that "most of the money that I make as an artist and a speaker has been put back into Harlehart just to support victims." The presenter used the name Harlehart in remarks and the agenda identified the nonprofit as the Harlot Heart Foundation.
City staff told the council the community sponsorship fund has $1,127 remaining in the current fiscal year and that the annual allocation for the line is $4,000. Council discussion referenced a prior, informal suggestion of $300 from the mayor; Council Member Maroquine proposed $500 during the meeting. A motion and second were recorded, and the council approved the $500 sponsorship by a vote of 4-0.
The council did not commit amounts beyond the current fiscal balance; staff noted the fund renews each fiscal year on July 1. Ledbetter thanked the council and invited members to attend the event, saying the sponsorship will help pay for outreach and help victims access services.
