Kansas committee hears support for FFA specialty license plate; no final vote

The Senate Transportation Committee heard more than two dozen proponents on House Bill 2201 on Tuesday, a bill that would create a distinctive Kansas FFA license plate and direct royalty payments to the Kansas FFA Foundation.

Supporters told the committee the plate would both generate recurring funding for scholarships, leadership events and classroom supports and allow Kansans to show public support for agricultural education. Beth Gaines, executive director of the Kansas FFA Foundation, said the plate would be available for applications beginning Jan. 1, 2026, and that "this plate would become...applications cannot be made until 01/01/2026."
