Littleton ESB urges South Suburban to add sustainability body, action plan and reporting in operating agreement

Laura, an ESB member who drafted the recommendations, presented the board’s suggested priorities for negotiations over the South Suburban Parks and Recreation District (SSPRD) operating agreement and said, “ESB recommends that the City of Littleton, alongside the South Suburban Parks and Recreation District, create guidelines for achieving a long lasting natural landscape for generations to come.”

The board’s key recommendations are threefold: create a sustainability management body within SSPRD, require an environmental stewardship action plan for the district, and commit to regular reporting and reviews. The ESB proposes that the management body be a volunteer advisory board supported by an SSPRD staff liaison, include at least one volunteer representative from each member community, and be subject to open-meeting laws. The ESB recommended that SSPRD initiate establishment of that body within six months of any new operating agreement taking effect.
