SELPA begins drafting 2025–26 local plan; public hearing and May 7 approval expected

Amador County SELPA staff presented information March 12 on the SELPA local plan renewal process and said the 2025–26 local plan will be drafted with input from the community advisory committee (CAC) and a public hearing before the board.
The presentation described the local plan as the means to provide transparency about the continuum of special education program options within the SELPA’s geographic region. Staff explained that two sections — the annual budget (section D) and the annual service plan — are required to be updated every year, and that governance, administration and certification sections were updated in 2024–25.
Staff told trustees they are drafting the 2025–26 local plan now, will obtain CAC feedback and hold a public hearing, and plan to present the local plan to the governing board for approval on May 7 so the district can submit the required June 30 filing to the California Department of Education. Hedegaard said the packet’s slide formatting had displayed strangely during the meeting but that the downloaded version contained the full timeline and required sections.
No action was required; the item was informational. Staff said those who are new to the process should expect annual updates on services and budgets in the local plan each year.
