The J O Combs Unified School District governing board on March 12 approved a 10% increase to the district—ommunity-use-of-facilities fee schedule and voted to add a separate facility ranger fee to cover staffing costs associated with outside use of district facilities.
Business staff presented the proposal, saying rising utility and custodial costs and competitive rates among neighboring districts motivated the change. Staff noted an anticipated SRP utility rate increase later in the year and increasing custodial overtime tied to outside events.
The board approved the motion 4–0. The business presenter said the district intends to remain competitively priced while ensuring facilities rentals cover associated costs; the new facility ranger fee is intended to recover overtime when a district employee must attend events.
The vote was recorded during the action items portion of the agenda; staff recommended the change as part of budget preparations for the 2025–26 fiscal year.
