Toquerville City Council approved an interlocal revenue pledge of $10,000 to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in support of the Washington County Drug Task Force.
Council members said the contribution continues past practice. Staff explained Toquerville does not have a municipal police department to assign officers to the task force; instead the city contributes funds to the sheriff’s office, which provides officers and equipment. The sheriff had previously thanked the city for prior support, staff said.
The council moved and seconded the interlocal agreement and approved it by roll-call vote. Council members noted the amount is modest for the sheriff’s office but meaningful to the program and to the small city’s budget.
Ending: Staff will execute the interlocal agreement and process the contribution to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office as budgeted.
