Representative from Ruth Hale Theater offers vouchers, invites Mapleton officials to 'Jersey Boys'

Barbara Brown, speaking as a member of Mapleton’s community advocacy committee, told the council on March 5, 2025, that the Nathan and Ruth Hale Theater has relocated to Crescent Grove on the doTERRA campus and is offering vouchers to support local educators and community partners.

“As you said, my name is Barbara Brown, and, I am here representing the Ruth Theatre,” Brown said. She said the theater — now identified in the meeting as the Nathan and Ruth Hale Theater and commonly called the Ruth — has expanded facilities, including a roughly 700-seat main theater, a smaller approximately 300-seat theater, a ballroom with event kitchen space and classrooms for education programs.

Brown said she has distributed vouchers to “every elementary, middle, and also to Mapleton Mountain High School even though they're not in Mapleton,” as well as to two dance studios, several music teachers, a private boys school and homeschool groups. She said vouchers were delivered to city offices, the police department and other county partners. Brown said the theater previously distributed about 6,500 vouchers across Utah County and “anticipate[s] doing that again with this production.”

Brown invited council members to the theater’s upcoming production of Jersey Boys and said the company offers a “PG” or toned-down version that removes explicit language while maintaining the music and story.

Councilmembers asked whether the theater will offer summer programming for youth; the transcript records a question but does not include a substantive program schedule or a firm commitment in response.

Brown closed by thanking the council and saying she looks forward to working with the city on arts programming and community partnerships.
