Noreen Hausrei, director of engineering and utility services, said the previous Davis Road alignment bisected the property and that the right‑of‑way abandonment reflects a realignment that is now dedicated as South Gate Bend Boulevard. Staff said all affected public utilities agreed to the abandonment and that adjacent property owners within 300 feet were notified.
Council member Tony (identified in the record) asked about the $500 figure shown in the materials; staff said that amount was the recording fee and that the land price in the city packet was shown as $0 because the property owner had dedicated the new right‑of‑way as part of the realignment.
The public hearing produced no speakers, and council moved the ordinance for approval; the motion carried.
