Council agrees to place change to RCRA board representation on future agenda

Councilmember Jacob Speak asked the Corona City Council to schedule consideration of a change to representation on the RCRA board so that a councilmember appointed by the mayor (rather than automatically the mayor and vice mayor) could serve as the city's representative.
"I think we should leave ourselves some latitude and there is some benefit to having consistency in those locations," Speak said, asking that the language be changed from a requirement that the mayor and vice mayor serve to wording consistent with other commissions allowing a mayor-appointed councilmember.
Mayor Jim Steiner and at least two other councilmembers agreed to put the proposal on a future agenda; Speak's request received the three-member support needed to schedule the item for future consideration. No formal vote or ordinance change was adopted at the meeting; the council simply directed staff to place the matter on a future agenda for full discussion and potential action.
