Panel lays over bill clarifying out-of-state training recognition for physician assistants

Representative Bonner said the bill would align the Board of Medical Practice’s authority to recognize out-of-state training for physician assistants with the approach used for other health-care professions. He told the committee the board supported the language, citing a board motion dated Jan. 11, 2025, and said the clarification would allow the board to recognize required collaborative-practice hours completed in other states or U.S. territories.
No opposing testimony was offered at the hearing. Committee members indicated bipartisan support and the chair laid the bill over for possible inclusion in the omnibus bill or additional consideration later in the session.
Representative Bonner asked that the bill be laid over and signaled that supporters were available for further technical questions if needed.
