Councilwoman Traci Park and the City of Los Angeles Community Investment for Families department hosted the second annual tax-preparation resource fair at Stoner Recreation Center to help families file returns and claim credits.
"We are out at Stoner Recreation Center here in the Sawtell community hosting the second annual CD 11 tax preparation resource fair," Park said. The event offered IRS-certified volunteers to assist low- and moderate-income residents, including help claiming the earned income tax credit and child tax credit.
Organizers said the free program can help eligible families recover refunds and maximize credits, and they asked attendees to bring W-2s, identification and Social Security cards. The resource fair also included a broader resource table connecting families to other city services.
The transcript cited examples of how tax credits can put money back into households; no legislative action was recorded in the segment.
