Forest Park economic development, planning updates: business inquiries, film scouts and Arts Review Board

Economic development and planning staff gave a joint update on local business outreach, marketing and planning initiatives.
Economic Development Director Marcellus Williams said staff received 11 business inquiries last month, hosted three film scouts and drafted a Main Street calendar for 2025 that is near final. Williams said staff is developing marketing materials, a department logo and a website redesign in coordination with the city's public information office. He also said the department is working with the Clayton State Small Business Development Center to host open-house forums in March aimed at local entrepreneurs.
Planning Director Nicole reported that the Arts Review Board, part of the Forest Park Arts Initiative, was approved by mayor and council and that mayor and council members may each recommend a board member. She also said a recorded Permitting 101 workshop is expected to be posted to the Planning and Community Development web page soon and reminded residents that a kiosk is available in the office to apply for building permits if they lack computer access.
Ending: Directors said further announcements about board membership, Main Street events and the Small Business Development Center open-house forums will follow as schedules are finalized; no formal council votes were taken at the Ward 1 meeting beyond the prior approval of the Arts Review Board.
