County to expand live-streaming after state law; installation costs split with city

VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. — The Board of Commissioners on Jan. 28 approved expanding the county’s Granica live-streaming software to an additional civic center meeting room to meet new state transparency requirements, with installation costs shared between the city and county.
Vernon (recorded as Verna in part of the transcript), who presented the item for computer services, told commissioners the expansion will cover Room 318 — an informal round-table meeting room used for many county meetings — and will add capabilities to meet requirements under House Bill 1167. "House Bill 1167 requires that all specific meetings be streamed and provided to the public," Vernon said.
The county and the city will split a one-time installation fee of $4,770. The annual fee was stated in the record as "$1,590.01." The board unanimously approved the expenditure.
Commissioners said the upgrade will allow more county governing bodies to meet in a room equipped for live streaming and remote participation, including meeting locations that previously lacked the necessary infrastructure.
