Eastchester honors students: FBLA attendees gain board support; two student board members named

The Eastchester Union Free School District board on Wednesday recognized students who are representing the district in extracurricular competitions and announced student representatives selected for upcoming governance roles.
Future Business Leaders of America adviser Lauren Stipo introduced four students who will attend the national FBLA conference in Anaheim, California. The board offered financial assistance to help offset travel costs; no formal vote was taken during the work session.
“FBLA is more than just the competitions,” FBLA president Kya Nolan said, explaining that national and state contests build skills and contributed to her college applications. Nolan described competing in help desk and hospitality events at state and national levels and thanked the board for supporting student travel to Anaheim.
Student governance and recognitions
• Student board representation: The district announced two student representatives effective July 1 — Elias Alexander as student representative to the Eastchester Board of Education and Luke Ambrogio as the district’s representative to the Southern Westchester BOCES Board. Board members said BOCES expects Ambrogio to attend a July 2 workshop and board meeting.
• Valedictorian and salutatorian: The board recognized the district’s 2025 valedictorian, Aidan, and salutatorian, Grace, and heard brief remarks of gratitude from both students. The students announced college plans: Aidan said he will attend Cornell University; Grace said she will attend Boston College.
Why it matters: Board financial support for students traveling to national competitions is a common practice to expand student opportunity; naming student representatives responds to a state law change effective July 1 that permits student board members.
