Jeff said Straight Line has provided marking services to the county for about 25 years and is familiar with local roads and sequencing around other pavement work.
Commissioners asked whether temporary markings included in a separate chip‑seal contract could be omitted; Jeff said federal and state guidelines require temporary markings on recently treated surfaces prior to permanent striping for uniform traffic control. "By statute, we are required to have those markings on there prior to the paint," Jeff said, referencing uniform traffic control requirements cited during the discussion.
The commission approved the bid by voice vote and recorded affirmative responses from members during the roll call.
County staff said the contractor will coordinate timing with the chip‑seal schedule to apply paint after temporary markings are placed. No protests or contested bids were recorded in the meeting record.
