Clean Water Services proposes three nominees for budget committee; county to review Feb. 18

Clean Water Services (CWS) told the Washington County Board of Commissioners it has nominated three members from the Clean Water Advisory Commission to fill three openings on CWS's budget committee. Katherine Harrington, chair of the Washington County Board of Commissioners, was told on Tuesday that Clean Water Services has nominated three Clean Water Advisory Commission members to fill open seats on CWS' budget committee.
Kathy Leader, chief financial officer and budget officer for Clean Water Services, told the board the budget committee is composed of the five elected Clean Water Services board members plus five members appointed from the Clean Water Advisory Commission. Leader said the commission identified three qualifying nominees during its Jan. 8 meeting to fill three vacancies: one seat that expires in September 2025 and two seats that expire in September 2027.
Elizabeth Edwards, chief of staff for Clean Water Services, named the nominees as Ramesh Krishnamurthy (District 2), Alan Jesse (District 3) and Terrence Song (District 3). Edwards told the board the nominees were provided with a presentation and timeline at the CWAC meeting and that staff checked for conflicts to try to ensure full representation at the budget committee meeting.
The county board asked when the item would return for formal action; Leader and Edwards said the nominations will come back to the board on Feb. 18 for the county's consideration.
No vote or appointment occurred at the Jan. 28 work session; CWS staff presented the nominations and answered questions from commissioners.
The presentation materials provided to the board, including the nominees' backgrounds and the CWAC's selection process, were circulated with the meeting packet and noted by staff during the presentation.
The county and CWS staff said they will proceed with the Feb. 18 follow-up, at which time the board will have the opportunity to act on the nominations.
