Reverend Dr. Bobby Love of Second Baptist Church, identified in the meeting as one of Olathe’s oldest African American congregations, accepted the proclamation and said Second Baptist was founded in 1868 and has long been part of the community. "May God bless our community," Love said as he accepted the proclamation.
The presentation was ceremonial; no council action was required.
