The Minot Planning Commission on March 4 voted to recommend that City Council rezone a 15.06‑acre parcel in the city’s extraterritorial jurisdiction from C2 (General Commercial) to M1 (Light Industrial).
City staff presented the case and noted the property is in the ETJ east of Minot, north of Highway 2, and currently vacant. "It is 15.06 acres," staff said when asked about size. Staff told commissioners that the future land‑use map already designates the site as light industrial and recommended approval with no conditions.
No applicant representative or members of the public spoke in favor or opposition during the public hearing. Commissioner Kibler moved to approve the staff findings and recommendation; Commissioner Amick seconded. The motion passed on a roll call vote and will be forwarded to City Council for final action.
Staff said future development on the site must conform to M1 standards if rezoned; the commission’s action is a recommendation only.
