Tehachapi honors six community volunteers for Women's History Month

Tehachapi recognized six residents for community service in honor of Women's History Month, the community engagement director reported. The six honorees were selected from 115 nominations by a small committee.
The honorees and the service described by the presenter were: - Carrie Morgan: More than 20 years of U.S. Air Force service; senior vice commander of VFW Post 5948; organizes food and coat drives and supports youth sports and veterans projects. - Gail Caldwell: Longtime leader of the Tehachapi arts community; president of the Tehachapi Arts Association and organizer of farmers-market and festival arts events. - Chris Morales: Owner of White Rabbit Studios, real estate agent with Platinum Realty Group, and long-time volunteer with the Tehachapi Community Theater Association (TCTA); director and producer of local productions and arts programming. - Donna Sullivan Schmidt Dierly: Lifelong Tehachapi resident, educator and volunteer at the Tehachapi Heritage League and local museum; active in veterans and community volunteer events. - Lynn Eckert: U.S. Marine Corps veteran, outreach specialist for Kern County Honor Flight and American Legion leader who organizes veterans' events. - Cheryl Johnson: Longtime foster parent and lead organizer of community quilt donations and support for Pacific Crest Trail hikers.
Each honoree briefly spoke and thanked the community. The community engagement director said the program was started last year and is intended to highlight residents who provide volunteer service across a range of local needs.
