Midvale Council approves five-year residential waste contract with ACE Disposal

The Midvale City Council voted unanimously March 4 to authorize the mayor to sign a five-year residential waste services agreement with ACE Disposal, with two three-year options to extend.
City staff told the council that the city's current residential waste contract expires June 30 and the city solicited proposals in November, with evaluations completed in December. An evaluation committee of city staff rated proposals; the committee found ACE scored highest and offered the strongest recycling plan. "Ace scored 532, Waste Management 443 out of 600," Glenn, the presenter, said during the council presentation.
The staff presentation said ACE met all RFP requirements for reporting, customer service and routing information, and was the only proposer not requesting contract changes. Staff recommended ACE based on the total evaluation, the proposed recycling services and price. The contract term approved by the council is five years with two three-year extension options.
There was no additional public comment on the item. A motion to adopt Resolution 2025 R-10 was offered and seconded; the roll-call vote was recorded as unanimous. Council discussion included staff recognition for the procurement work that led to the recommended award.
The mayor and council did not change contract terms during the meeting; legal had already reviewed the agreement and staff said the agreement matched the RFP and procurement process.
Council members present voted in favor and the city will now proceed to finalize the agreement and transition planning with ACE.
