Metro Fire advisory chiefs seek small amendments to interlocal agreement; trustees' action pending

Sandy City's fire chief presented a proposed housekeeping amendment to the Metro Fire trustees' interlocal agreement at the March 4 council meeting.
Chief McConaughey briefed the council on behalf of the Metro Fire chiefs' advisory group. He said the proposed amendment would remove two provisions (referred to in the presentation as sections 8(f) and 11(a)) that had treated the chiefs' advisory meetings as exempt from open-and-public-meeting requirements and exempted an annual budget requirement for the advisory group. "As the Chiefs meeting is just an advisory group only, they're requesting that that open and public meeting law section be removed," McConaughey said.
McConaughey described the change as housekeeping; he said all other provisions, including trustee approval requirements, would remain in place. The presentation was informational and council members asked no substantive questions; no vote on the amendment was recorded at the council meeting.
The item will return if trustees or partner cities request formal action according to the interlocal agreement process.
