Police report: Wasco PD cites steady activity, 705 arrests year-to-date, operations targeting underage alcohol sales

Mora said department statistics covering the current year-to-date period include 15,817 total incidents, 9,505 calls for service and 6,312 officer-initiated incidents, with total misdemeanor and felony arrests of 705 and 651 citations issued. For the month under review (February 1–27), Lieutenant Mora reported 1,244 total incidents, 850 calls for service, 394 officer-initiated incidents, 21 misdemeanor/felony arrests and seven collisions; the department opened 153 cases in the period.
Mora described recent operations: a “shoulder-tap” underage alcohol-deterrence operation that contacted 20 individuals across approximately eight locations and resulted in two arrests, a community bike-rodeo event and a multi-agency Special Investigation Team (SIT) detail in which nine agencies participated, producing four arrests from 40 identified targets.
Council members thanked the department and asked clarifying questions about stolen-vehicle recovery and interagency coordination. Mora explained that stolen vehicles are sometimes recovered by other agencies and that multi-agency cooperation leads to recoveries across jurisdictions. Members noted the department’s community engagement activities and praised recent recognition of the chief by a local church for community service.
No council action was required; the report was received and council members requested continued monitoring and monthly updates. Lieutenant Mora closed by noting department efforts to continue community policing and enforcement operations.
