Glenn Heights swears in Dr. Glennell Horn Jr. as chief of police

Dr. Glennell Horn Jr. was sworn in as chief of police for the City of Glenn Heights during the March 18 council meeting.
Horn thanked the mayor, council and city staff and said the selection process left him convinced the city was the right fit. "One of my mottos and philosophy is that we are all one team," Horn said. "I'm fully committed. I do everything in my power and with the team to continue to elevate the City of Glenn Heights."
Mayor Sonya A. Brown and several council members spoke briefly at the ceremony, welcoming Horn and his wife, Jasmine Horn, who accompanied him. The mayor said the council and staff were pleased with the transparency of the hiring process. Horn declined to present a policy agenda during the swearing-in; he instead offered a commitment to work with staff and the community as he assumes the role.
Horn's remarks followed a short oath administered by the mayor and the traditional presentation of his family. Council did not take any formal policy action during the ceremony; the swearing-in was a ceremonial step to place Horn in the chief's position.
