A representative for the property owner, Richard Muller of Muller Law Group, told the council the parcel is a small strip near a creek and that the petition was not tied to the city's lot-size changes. The motion to approve was adopted by voice vote.
Variance for 2649 US 90A West: The council approved a variance request allowing a proposed residential home to front on and take access from an existing dedicated road easement rather than a public street. Staff described the one-acre tract as subdivided prior to city annexation in February 2013 and said the property owner, Orlando Renteria, bought the tract in February 2009. The planning commission recommended approval; staff supported the recommendation. Council members voted to approve the variance unanimously.
Employment contracts (items H, I and J): After an executive session, councilors ratified revisions discussed in closed session and approved three employment agreements: the city secretary contract (voice vote, recorded as passing 6-0), the police chief contract (Resolution R-3842, approved 6-0), and the city manager contract (Resolution R-3841, approved 6-0). The council voted on those items individually; staff said the contracts include the revisions agreed in executive session.
