The Boerne Historic Landmark Commission approved a reconsideration granting a certificate of appropriateness for a storefront canopy sign for Native Blends at 104 East Hosack.
Staff explained the storefront sits within Boerne’s historic district and that the proposed sign design complies with UDC signage standards and the historic district’s guidelines. The applicant, owner Eric Wendt, said the brown color would match the branding used at his San Marcos location and complement the storefront posts and plantings.
Commissioners recalled voting previously on a monument (monument sign) with black-and-white coloring to match nearby signage; this reconsideration concerned the canopy storefront sign visible from the side street. After remarks from Wendt and brief discussion about color and consistency with the district, a commissioner moved to approve item 2025-086. The motion was seconded and passed 4-0.
Staff and the commission noted appreciation for the applicant returning to explain the color choice; the previously approved monument sign will remain black and white as decided earlier.
