Colleyville Police begin Power Engage text messages to 911/non-emergency callers for pre-arrival info and two-question surveys

The Colleyville Police Department informed the City Council on March 4, 2025 that it has begun using a new communication platform, Power Engage, to send text messages to people who contact 911 or the department’s non-emergency line.
According to the staff briefing, Power Engage will send informational messages on certain call types that can include pre-arrival guidance and a short survey after the contact. "Each survey will ask just 2 questions about how satisfied you are and give you a chance to provide feedback," the briefing said. The messages are opt-in by virtue of the phone number provided at the time of the call; recipients who do not want to receive the texts can reply with the word "stop" to opt out.
The department emphasized the system is not a replacement for 911 and cannot be used to report emergencies, criminal activity, or to file a formal complaint with the department. Citizens were reminded to continue to use 911 for emergencies and to use (817) 743-4522 for non-emergency reports.
Staff said the tool is intended to provide timely information to callers and to collect quick satisfaction feedback to inform department performance and identify improvements.
