Mayor Pro Tem Jeremy Gerson highlights Torrance college and career fair, urges continued support for student programs

Dr. Jeremy Gerson, Mayor Pro Tem and council member for District 6, told the Torrance City Council that he recently attended the Torrance Unified School District's College and Career Fair, which he described as "an amazing event."

Gerson said the fair included representatives from large public universities such as the University of California, Irvine, private institutions including Loyola Marymount University and Whittier College, and parties offering services ranging from college-essay help to instruction in Mandarin. He also noted that ROTC and multiple military branches were present, and that he visited the U.S. Air Force table. "Events like these empower students to make informed decisions, whether they choose college, vocational training, or entering the workforce," Gerson said.

Gerson framed the fair as part of broader efforts to give students practical skills and information. "By building these connections, we're shaping future leaders, innovators, and professionals," he said, adding that as an educator he is "committed to advocating for more opportunities like this one."
