Education seeks state support for two CTE center renovations; town votes to confirm pending

The governor’s recommendation includes $18,518,000 for renovations and a 30,000‑square‑foot addition at the Jeffrey Ringe CTE center to add programs such as cosmetology, culinary arts, and public safety training. White said the local district will hold a vote March 11; if the local warrant article fails, the center would remain on the department’s list but could not move to construction until the local match is secured.
The Department also brought a separate proposal for Milford Applied Technology Center for $9.8 million to expand capacity; that request did not appear in the governor’s recommendation. White told the committee the system originally requested broader capital funding but narrowed its request for the session to focus on high‑priority readiness and a limited IT infrastructure ask of $800,000.
White noted two previously appropriated projects (Winnisquam and Winnacunnet items) are expected to spend through Education Trust Fund non‑lapsing amounts and therefore are not expected to lapse into the general fund.
Ending: The committee was advised the House Public Works work session on March 18 will revisit the CTE priorities and that local district votes (March 11 for both Jeffrey Ringe and Milford) will decide whether projects can proceed to final appropriation.
