District presents strategic plan update and stakeholder survey data; principals will translate results into school improvement plans

Superintendents and executive directors updated the board on the district strategic plan and a recently completed stakeholder engagement survey administered by K-12 Insight, and described how principals will turn the results into school improvement actions.
District leaders summarized the strategic plan as a five-year framework of mission, vision and four priority areas: improving literacy and math outcomes, expanding access and opportunities (including advanced coursework and pre-K enrollment), strengthening attendance and staff retention, and enhancing community engagement. The district said each school will adopt school-improvement goals aligned to the district priorities and will set measurable targets appropriate to local needs.
K-12 Insight conducted the survey from Nov. 19 to Jan. 23. The district reported strong participation from staff and students, weaker participation from parents, and commended principals who set aside time for staff and student responses. The district identified areas for deeper review, specifically mental-health access and awareness, student-to-staff respect, behavioral supports for staff, attendance and peer-to-peer interactions.
A district design team that reviewed the results recommended principals dig into school-level data to identify strengths and priorities; the results will be compared across school levels (elementary, middle, high) and returned to principals for action planning. The district said it will perform a district-level debrief in May–June to identify systemwide actions.
Board members asked for subsequent presentations to include quantitative targets and year-over-year benchmarks tied to the strategic plan. District leaders said they will return with more quantitative measures and with school-specific targets after principals incorporate survey findings into school improvement plans.
