The project description presented at the public hearing says the work would extend rail across 20 Seventh Street Southwest and across the full 500-foot depth of the Le Mars Industrial Park. The project schedule presented at the hearing lists the bid opening on March 25, 2025, and a completion date of Oct. 3, 2025.
Council opened a public hearing and received no public comments before moving the resolution. The council adopted the measure on a roll-call vote; council members Brunz, Goodchild, Wick and Hick voted "yes," and the mayor declared the motion carried.
City staff said the project estimate of $504,245 will be funded with TIF proceeds. No contract award or contractor was named at the March 4 meeting; the document presented to council included plans, specifications and the engineer’s estimate for the project.
The council did not amend the plan at the hearing. Staff identified the next steps as bid opening and subsequent award and construction per the schedule included in the project packet. The hearing record includes the plan, specifications and engineer’s estimate submitted to council for approval.
