The board packet contained tabulations showing Stratford Gravel & Materials' quote near $711,500 and Redding's Gravel & Excavating's quote at $329,000; staff noted Redding's bid was the low total and recommended awarding the crushing operations to Redding's. A representative from Redding's (Joe) attended and the board approved the motion unanimously.
The county engineer reported previous per‑ton rates had been lower in prior years; the low quote is consistent with the county's longstanding practice of soliciting quotes from local aggregate suppliers and moving forward with the lowest responsive bidder.
