Kossuth County supervisors approved gravel‑crushing quotes for county secondary‑road projects and awarded the work to Redding's Gravel & Excavating, the lowest quoted bidder.
County staff requested quotes to crush 60,000 tons at Maguire Pit, 50,000 tons at Roffler’s (Rothler) Pit and miscellaneous asphalt at Irvington Pit. The board packet contained tabulations showing Stratford Gravel & Materials' quote near $711,500 and Redding's Gravel & Excavating's quote at $329,000; staff noted Redding's bid was the low total and recommended awarding the crushing operations to Redding's. A representative from Redding's (Joe) attended and the board approved the motion unanimously.
The county engineer reported previous per‑ton rates had been lower in prior years; the low quote is consistent with the county's longstanding practice of soliciting quotes from local aggregate suppliers and moving forward with the lowest responsive bidder.
