She described active site‑readiness work, an RFP for a boulevard mixed‑use redevelopment and land assembly near I‑10 for an Avondale Tech Park intended to attract advanced manufacturing suppliers and R&D firms.
Stein said the city recently completed land assembly work for a tech park site and that a major developer has committed to a build at the Park 10/industrial corridor. She also noted interest from grocery, hospitality and restaurant prospects and said a Cooper’s Hawk project was in municipal review.
Councilmembers discussed Old Town parcels at 518 E. Western and 328 Western; staff said those properties would be included in an RFP process and that proposals may include demolition or preservation depending on proponent plans. Councilmembers generally favored high‑quality mixed‑use outcomes rather than additional auto‑oriented or drive‑through development.
Stein said the economic strategy will be flexible and routinely reviewed, and that staff will bring RFP responses and selected development agreements to council for approval.
