Commissioners provided practical guidance to residents: property owners are not required to immediately change addresses with the U.S. Postal Service, which will continue to recognize both Navy Boulevard and Thomas Drive and deliver mail without interruption. County staff said property owners may update drivers' licenses and registrations if they wish but are not required to do so immediately. The county noted that residents subject to legal obligations that require exact address reporting (probation or offender conditions) should contact their supervising authorities to confirm requirements.
The county estimated that replacing the county's street signs related to the change will cost about $4,500; the board said larger overhead signs are being quoted separately. County staff also said police, fire and medical dispatch are aware of the change and that updating digital mapping and navigation services (Google, Bing, etc.) will take time.
