County auditor reports FY24 cleanup and new controls as commissioners approve $2.91 million in weekly payouts

She told commissioners the auditor’s office added safety nets so departments are not allowed to exceed their budgets in FY25 and that in April staff will provide line-item-by-line reports so the commissioners can monitor overspending within a six-month window.
The court approved the transfers and the week’s claims by voice vote. County payroll for the pay period was $2,019,070.68, accounts payable invoices were $890,661.75 and juror checks totaled $3,036, producing a total payout of $2,912,768.43.
Miss Alter presented the claims and stated the major components were equipment repairs and inmate medical costs; no individual vendor details were read into the public record during the meeting. The court carried the motion to pay the listed claims and payroll.
Commissioners asked for improved monthly reporting to identify overspending and were told the auditor’s office will deliver more detailed reports beginning in April.
