On March 4 Bay County commissioners authorized staff to pursue a boating improvement grant from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to fund renovations at the High Point Boat Landing on Deer Point Lake.
County staff asked the board to approve pursuing the grant, approve a resolution to that effect and authorize the chairman to sign the resolution and any necessary modifications approved by the county attorney. Commissioners and several speakers from the dais praised the planned improvements and said the ramp is an important recreational and economic amenity in the district.
"That boat ramp is so critical to what we do in Bay County and in my district," one commissioner said while congratulating staff on the plans. The board moved and approved the grant pursuit by roll-call vote.
Ending: Staff will proceed with grant application steps and return any required documents or agreements for execution as needed.
