Annapolis — The Maryland Senate on Tuesday accepted a supplemental budget submission from Gov. Wes Moore, journalized a resolution recognizing Read Across America Day and advanced a broad set of local and departmental measures to third reading. The chamber also gave final passage to Senate Bill 264, a measure updating plant disease control and nursery inspection and fee provisions.
The governor’s message, delivered to the chamber and read into the record, identified “Supplemental Budget Number 1” as an amendment to the fiscal 2026 budget under Article 3, Section 52, Subsection 5 of the Maryland Constitution. The presiding officer said the supplemental budget packet will be uploaded to the Senate floor system under the budget tab for members’ review and that the document will be referred to the Budget and Taxation Committee for consideration. The clerk noted the supplemental budget affects the fiscal year ending 06/30/2026 and estimated the submission at roughly 32 pages.
