Rupp said the office lost staff early in the year and has since hired replacements, but that training new employees takes time. He also reported personal mobility issues that affected his ability to complete work on the original schedule.
"I'm very hopeful we will meet that, March 17 extension deadline," Rupp said, while noting he would not entirely rule out asking for a second extension if circumstances required it.
Commissioners accepted the update and offered well wishes. No formal action was required; the appraisal office will proceed under the approved state extension timeline and return to the commission if additional changes are necessary.
