An attorney representing property owners Dan and Jean Janssen asked the Ramsey County Board on March 4 to set a public hearing on a petition to close a segment of a section line in Creel Township.
County staff confirmed the petition packet was in commissioners’ materials and said the standard process is to set a hearing date, publish a notice twice in consecutive calendar weeks and notify interested persons, including adjacent landowners and the township board. Commissioners set the hearing for April 1 at 9:00 a.m. during a regular county meeting and directed the county auditor to publish the notice and serve or mail notices to adjoining landowners and the township board.
The petitioner’s attorney said he had not handled this exact procedure before and asked procedural questions; county staff advised the process and affirmed the township had already received the petition and a request for its position.
No substantive closure decision was made at the March 4 meeting; the hearing will allow public testimony and the board will decide after the hearing and notifications are completed.
