City begins 2026 budget process; HR broker bids and city engineer recruitment underway

He said department heads will coordinate with their portfolio commissioners over the coming weeks to review and refine initial drafts, and staff is aiming to complete the budget process earlier than in past years.
Scott said the human resources director will solicit bids for employee benefits broker services; the city has used Hub International in recent years but staff will test the market to ensure competitive pricing and service offerings.
Scott also announced that Dan Hansen, the city engineer and senior director of community development services, is preparing to step away from the city engineer duties; the city will advertise to fill that engineering role and Hansen will focus on his senior director responsibilities.
